My professional career includes years of experience teaching college communications courses; public issue and cause advocacy; news and public affairs reporting as a broadcast journalist; and, experience in general management and marketing of cable television systems and programming.

Recent Work: I provided quality adult instruction and training as adjunct faculty member (2005 through 2011) at University of Maryland University College in Adelphia, Maryland just outside Washington, DC. I enhanced the business and professional communication skills of adults while providing interpersonal and written counsel to them. I am skilled at using both web-based and classroom education methods.

I have created the course plans of study and teaching, instructed adult volunteers, tested/evaluated/mentored adult volunteers, and administered/supervised all trainers who presented the corporate business uses of social media (2008 through 2009) for employees of Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, VA, and, for employees of MUFG Union Bank in San Francisco, CA (2013 through 2016).

The honest truth: In today’s world, there are people who are willing to pay to be called a coach. That approach can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to complete. Typically, it requires the person who wants to buy their way into being called a coach to spend as much as several thousand dollars, but such fees can also be discounted to several hundred dollars.

There are all kinds of certifications out there in the real world for which people are willing to pay for them. One example from the International Association of Business Communicators in San Francisco is worth mentioning here: The IABC previously had a certification known as ABC from 1975 to 2013. The three letters stood for Accredited Business Communicator. I personally know people who paid to have the letters ABC after their name.

But, my sincere belief is that for someone to have the reputation of being a coach, he or she must have more going for them than merely having purchased an accreditation from somebody that took a few weeks or months to attain.

My humble opinion is: What makes a truly credible coach are specific abilities a person attains from hands-on experience—usually after many years of hard work—that enables the person to teach or train others successfully so that they can then perform at the highest caliber professional level.

Over the course of many years, I have had exactly that hands-on experience in particular professional specialty areas for which I now provides one-on-one coaching for individuals. I also earned a doctoral degree and master’s degree in communications along with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. The truth is that my preparation to be called a coach was not purchased or completed in a few weeks or months. As a result, I am convinced that can trust me to do right by you in terms of coaching you in certain specialty areas that I have mastered.
